Thankfully and sort of pathetically we’ve gotten a break from 100 degree weather to…uhh 90 degree weather.
You can say it’s cooler but I’m still hiding-out indoors. My GF is getting her hair did at Salon 7 by our girl Nicolette so I’m at Panera Bread getting my blogification on for you.
Just so we can all get on the same page with what’s bouncing around in my head let’s play a round of ‘Have you ever?’
Have you ever heard of affirmations?
Affirmations are positive/supportive things you say to yourself that literally allow you to speak things into existence in your life.
Now if you’re starting to think I forgot to take my meds and I’m getting New-Age-y on you guess again. This is powerful stuff I’m getting into and if you’re ready to change your life read on.
I first discovered affirmations 3 years ago from T Harv Eker. Like many people I thought it was ridiculous, but then another voice in my head said ‘What do you have to lose?’
So there I was in my room with my hand on my chest speaking to the air and touching my temple. Did I feel an immediate change? No. But I kept doing it for the next month and then—DAYUM!
You know what? I noticed that I was less judgemental and there were more positive things in my life. That, my friends was huge, and for the last 3 years I’ve performed daily affirmations.
Without getting waist deep in the science behind it all, here’s why affirmations work. Would you agree with me that no thought lives in your head rent-free?
On a subconscious level the thoughts you allow into your head will steer the feelings and choices you make, and ultimately the things you have in your life.
Ever been cut off in traffic on your way to work? Pretty crappy huh? That crappy feeling will stick with you, and inevitably steer you in the direction of having one-of-those-days.
Here’s the flip-side of things. If you’ve been to my boot camp in Santa Clarita you’ve experienced the energy I bring at 5:30 in the morning. Many of my clients have asked, ‘How much coffee have you had?’
You know what? NONE…I haven’t had a single drop of Hawaiian-sun-soaked Kona before class. The thing driving me to “bring it” every day are my affirmations.
Here’s one of them: “I wake up every morning because I am living my dream.”
I know and feel when I get up in the morning that what I’m doing makes a difference, and that bit-by-bit every day I am bringing something positive into my clients’ lives, and for that I am grateful.
That, my friends is why I’m on fire at 5:30 in the morning as opposed to this:
“Ughhhhh I have to get up at what time?”
Now ask yourself–Would you be inspired and motivated by the person who loves what he does or the person dragging ass to class and counting the minutes until it’s over?
You can harness the power of affirmations for yourself too. Write out a few that support you in a positive way. They don’t have to be fancy. Then say them aloud to yourself daily.
If you’re open to change, your affirmations will replace the negative thoughts that once lived in your head with a supportive mindset that can take YOU to the next level.
Rock on guys! Leave a comment below I’d love to hear how this works for you.
