Forget Those Other Dudes

A couple days ago I was in Chino Hills for a Mastermind with some super awesome Fit Body Boot Camp owners. We spent 2 days working on hi-level ninja type things that I can’t mention here.

What I can tell you about is the really important lesson I learned while having dinner at Wood Ranch.

There was a heated discussion going on that pretty much had to do with what the “other guy” aka other boot camps in town were doing.

What I started to realize was that it’s so easy to get wrapped up in what somebody else is doing and lose sight of what you need to do for YOU.

I believe the game is called “Keeping Up With The Jones’s”.

At my fitness boot camp I’ve seen it happen too.

One person may be able to squat lower than another, lift more weight, lose more inches, or have less jiggly arms.

That’s usually when I get the texts saying–

“I don’t think this is working.”

“I’m too old for this”

“I’m too out of shape for this to work”

“Why are they losing weight and I’m not?”

My point here is that listening to that voice can steer you off your course and the plan you have. You do have a plan right?

Heck the truth is you don’t really know how well the other person is doing, or if it’s even right for you. You do however have the ability to know what’s going on with you, and control what’s going on with you.

People progress differently. If you’re constantly comparing yourself to what others do, would you agree with me that it takes an awful lot of focus off of you?

Stop it. Here’s how:

  1. Tell that “Keeping Up With The Jones’s” voice to shut it. The thoughts you allow in your head (supportive or unsupportive) will steer you down the path you take.
  2. Come up with a plan to get you where you want to be. If you don’t have one, find someone who can help you put one together.
  3. Celebrate the fact that you are taking action every day towards achieving insert your dream here. Your subconscious mind needs to know that you’re bringing the awesomeness to keep you moving forward.

Now that I’ve put that out there, let me leave you with this simple mantra…
